Fur babies Update...

Well, as of right now it is still unclear if the fur babies will be coming to live with us. The friend is having a very hard time deciding if she can do this.
I can completely understand since I know it would be hard for me to willingly give up any of my fur babies. For people who don't have or have never had kids, their animals are their kids. So, for them, it is the equivalent of giving up a child.
I know there is a very large difference in the aspect of animal versus human but the emotion is similar. In the mind of someone who only has animals as their children, the emotional attachment is, in their minds, this is my child. To give up the animal is just as heart-wrenching for them.
I feel for my friend and understand what she is going through in making this decision. Especially since she has had the dogs since they were puppies. It will be a change for the dogs but they will adjust, as for my friend I am not so sure she will adjust as quickly or at all.
We have discussed if she does bring them to us and changes her mind we will be more than happy to give them back to her. Us taking on the dogs is not only to help her but also to give her the peace of mind they will be well taken care of, kept together, and she will still have access to see them.
I will keep updating and let you know when or if we get our new family additions...

Birthday gift Update...

Two weeks to go and I still am looking at a box. He is holding out until my birthday. I can't say as I blame him since it did come way earlier then he planned for it to arrive.
It is only two more weeks and I will be busy so it will keep me from really being too bothered by this unwrapped box taunting me. I don't always like surprises but this one is worth the wait. It is a large box so I know it isn't jewelry. I also didn't ask for jewelry, I did, however, send him a few ideas so I am really hoping it is one of those items.
I will make sure I post after I do open it so you all will know what the gift turned out to be. I will also add a picture.

New adventure...

As much as I love substitute teaching, it is just not enough to feel like I am pulling my part in the financial stability of the household. I am looking at making a move to find a better paying job. I have really tried hard to get my web-based business and books going so I could work from home. Unfortunately, this was not working out even with the addition of substituting.

So, the new adventure is to find a new job with the assistance of an actual human whose job it is to help me find the right fit for me with all my issues and experience. I attempted this the year I lost my job of almost eight years. I think the real issue then was there was way too much happening all at once and I couldn't deal with it.

Now all I have to do it get myself ready to deal with face to face rejection. Will be heading to a job fair to see what I can find. Wish me luck!!!

New Family Additions

While everyone else is having babies I am adding fur babies. Last night was exciting and noisy. In an attempt to assist a friend we will be adding two new dogs to our household. Before we just agreed we wanted to see how the dogs would socialize, so our friend brought the dogs out for a visit.
The exciting part is my husband will again have his favorite dog again. The dogs Great Danes. They are absolutely beautiful!
Now, I had always heard Great Danes were big dogs but I really didn't have anything to compare the size of a big dog was a German Shepard and a Bouvia Deflaunder. When the dogs arrived I was shocked at how large they really were. I told my husband he understated the size, calling them big. They are giant! I had actually never been face to face with a Great Dane. Well, I can now never say those words again. I had my first encounter with a Great Dane and when I say encounter the dog stood on her hind legs and was taller than me.
I did learn they really are gentle giants. The dogs actually socialized very well even though both males are not fixed. It will be very important for me to start training them to me once they are here on a permanent base. I can not wait for them to be here and for the family dynamics to form.
The best part of the evening was just before they left, we were in the dining room and my Shepard was under the table and the male Dane was standing next to it and my Shepard barked startling the Dane who jumped straight up like a cat and landed on the dining room table. I laughed so hard because I have never seen a dog jump like a startled cat before. It was just the funniest thing even though this huge dog was standing on my dining room table. I so wish I had my phone camera running, it would have been an awesome video to share.
Here are my future fur babies...
This is June and Johnny!

Birthday Surprise Update...

Still waiting to open my gift. I had hoped the hubby would let me open it for Valentines Day and make it a combination gift but no such luck. However, he did bring me home some Brookside Dark Chocolate Pomegranate Flavor. It is one of my favorite flavors. Not big on dark chocolate but when you add Pomegranate Flavoring to it, oh yeah!!
So, as it sits on the bottom shelf of the bookcase I still get to stare at the box I can't open and continue to wonder what is in the box. I have to admit even not knowing what it is, is okay cause the hubby got me a gift and it doesn't matter what it is, it is the thought which counts.

Birthday Surprise...

A package arrived this morning with the hubby's name on it so, I think it is car parts or something along those lines since most of the time it is exactly what it is in the box.
Well after he gets up to leave for work, I tell him a package arrived for him and he tells me it is actually for me. It is my birthday gift.
The place he ordered it from estimated a six to eight week delivery time frame so four weeks ago he placed the order in the hope it would arrive at least by my birthday.
I am excited to find out what is in the box but the hubby is going to make me wait until my birthday which by the way is at least another three or more weeks away, so I get to look at this box and wonder for the next month what is in the box.
My surprise is, not only did I get a birthday gift, now I have to wait and look at the box for a month to learn what it is...I will keep you posted if I last the month.

Eye UpDate...

Yesterday went in for another injection. The doctor had previously said he was going to schedule the injection but would be taking photos to see if the injection would be needed this time or not. He was saying in his opinion from the previous photos he felt there was a good chance we might be able to go a bit longer between injections.
However, the photos proved the injection was needed and could not be avoided or stretched to a later date. I reviewed the photos with him and could tell without him telling me the swelling was back. He graciously said the swelling was not a bad as it had been in August. To my lamins terms, the swelling looked just as bad and possibly a bit worse.
You see the normal picture of the eye is a dip in the vision line, where mine is ballooned. Which is what the doctor refers to as swelling. The swelling is actually pools of blood in the dipped area making it bubble up.
Despite the still having to have the injection I did come away from the appointment with good news. I had previously been doing drops to bring down the pressure in my eye. I had mentioned in the last update the pressure read was 26, well all I am happy to report the pressure read yesterday was down to 12. The doctor was very pleased and he has allowed me to stop the drops but did advise to keep it on hand just in case the steroid injections are possibly what is causing the pressure increase.
Time will tell and we shall see what happens on the next visit.
